Education Setup
EduGeyser is a Geyser fork that lets Minecraft: Education Edition players join Minecraft: Java Edition servers. Regular Bedrock Edition players can connect at the same time, so both editions play together on the same server.
Requirements
Server side:
- A Java Edition server on any platform Geyser supports (Paper, Spigot, proxies, Fabric, NeoForge, or standalone)
- Java 17 or newer
- EduGeyser (replaces standard Geyser)
- EduFloodgate (replaces standard Floodgate), see EduFloodgate
The Education Extension that handles player connections is bundled inside EduGeyser and installs itself automatically. There is nothing extra to download and nothing to place in the extensions folder.
Client side:
- Minecraft Education Edition 1.21.133 or newer
- A Microsoft 365 Education account (provided by your school or organization)
- Windows, macOS, iPad, Chromebook, or Android
Installation
- Download EduGeyser and EduFloodgate from the download page.
- Install them exactly like standard Geyser and Floodgate, replacing those jars if present. See the Geyser setup guide and the Floodgate setup guide for platform specifics.
- Start the server.
The simplest setup is a single Paper server with EduGeyser and EduFloodgate. No proxy is needed. If you already run a Velocity or BungeeCord network, install EduGeyser on the proxy and EduFloodgate on both the proxy and the backend servers.
First start
On first start, EduGeyser generates a Connection ID and stores it in nethernet/connection-id.yml inside the Geyser folder. It is printed to the console on every startup:
[Nethernet] Listening on connection ID: 1234567890123456785daffd38c5bbac52ba313d53d9354b58
You can also run /edu joincode in the console to see it at any time.
How players join
- Open Education Edition and press Play
- Press Join World
- Press the small ... button to the right of the confirm button
- Enter the Connection ID and confirm
No accounts, mods, or client configuration are needed beyond being signed in to Education Edition.
For join codes, the in game server list, and restricting which schools can join, see Connection Methods.
